Grace morning on this thankful Thursday.
We’ve all heard the phrase, “shame on you.” when we were a child: “you didn’t clean your room, shame on you.” “If you were mean to your little sister, shame on you.” Even as adults, it plays in our thoughts: “you fell back into that bad habit, shame on you.” “ It’s puzzling how destructive shame is. It’s often use to try and convince people to do better, but shame does just the opposite; causes individuals to feel guilty, unworthy, like they don’t deserve to be blessed. Shame is one of the enemy’s favorite tools; he’s called, “the accuser.” He’ll remind you of every mistake, every failure, even things that weren’t your fault, he’ll try to deceive you into thinking that you were to blame. People that were abused as a child had no choice in it; he’ll whisper, “you’re not good enough, you deserved it, that’s why they mistreated you.” he’ll try to twist it, and convince you to carry around all this heaviness. Do yourself a favor and dump it.
“I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]”
