Grace morning on this wonderful and winsome Wednesday.
Life can be demanding if you don’t adjust to Abiding, Not Striving. It's easy to go through life thinking you have to make everything happen: make your business grow, church grow, making sure those around us are taken care of. There's this constant pressure: always something we need to fix, some area we need to improve in, so we live striving, trying to force a door to open, do better then we'll gain approval, work harder then we'll get the good break. It's like there's a war going on inside, no rest, no peace. You weren't created to live that way. Psalm 46:10 says, "Be still and know that I am God". One translation says, "Stop your striving and know that I am God". As long as you're in this striving mode, trying to fix everything, thinking that it's all up to you, then you're not going to know he's God, you're not going to see his favor and his goodness like you should.
“Let the Word of Christ—the Message—have the run of the house. Give it plenty of room in your lives. Instruct and direct one another using good common sense. And sing, sing your hearts out to God! Let every detail in your lives—words, actions, whatever—be done in the name of the Master, Jesus, thanking God the Father every step of the way.”
Colossians 3:16-17 MSG
